Jacob Perkins | Jacob Perkins was born on September 10, 1731, the son of Benjamin Perkins and Elinor Cox, and the grandson of Jacob Perkins, Jr. He married Elizabeth Hewlings (or Heulings) in Swedes Church on March 7, 1756. They had ten children. Jacob was commissioned as a Major in the NJ Militia in the American Revolution in 1775 or 1776. After the war, he built a brick farmhouse on the Delaware riverfront in what is now Delanco. Their initials and "1789" are worked into the bricks on the gable end.
